Job summary

Looking for a new challenge and an opportunity to develop yourself professionally? We are looking for highly motivated, qualified Speech and Language Therapist to work in the Specialist Learning Disability Health and Autism Community Team in Swindon.

You will provide a Specialist Speech and Language Therapy service to a complex caseload of adults with learning disabilities as part of a wider multidisciplinary team.

You will work alongside other professionals to improve and promote the health of adults with learning disabilities. We encourage you to participate in research, quality improvement projects and audit relevant to your area of clinical work.

It is essential you have a Degree or equivalent in Speech and Language Therapy with professional membership and registration with HCPC and RCSLT. Postgraduate experience/training in dysphagia is essential.

The hours of this post are worked flexibly within Monday to Friday.

Main duties of the job

To utilise theory, evidence-based literature and research to support evidence based practice in individual work and work with other team members.To monitor and review the effectiveness of the clinical work undertaken.To participate in data collection, audit, service evaluation and clinical research.To undertake project management, including clinical audit and service evaluation to help develop service provision.To work with the MDT to develop and maintain a philosophy of care for SLT services in line with service and pathway objectives.To propose and contribute to the development of local clinical guidelines and procedures related to this specialist clinical area for SLT.To ensure that all interventions reflect current SLT best practice and adhere to professional standards.To use assessment material and information to offer differential diagnosis in patients with highly complex presentations and needs.To lead in the delivery of a comprehensive and effective speech and language therapy service.To access appropriate training and supervision to maintain and improve skills in dysphagia assessment and treatment.
