Job summary
The Early Intervention for Psychosis Service provides help & support to people aged 14-65 years of age for 3 years following a first episode psychosis or for a limited period where there may be a possible psychosis.
This is an exciting opportunity for a community mental health practitioner with an interest in EI to provide care coordination to our service users & deliver a range of NICE compliant psycho-social interventions.
We are looking for an enthusiastic practitioner who is aiming to specialise in the area of EIP. The team act as a resource to the adult mental health community, CAMHS & inpatient services, by raising awareness of the needs of this client group, providing information, treatment & consultation about psychosis.
The post holder will Care Coordinate individuals, from across South Gloucestershire, presenting with signs of a first episode of psychosis in line with local and national guidelines on Early Intervention in Psychosis. NICE guidelines mean that this is a continually developing service which now has clear guidelines around referral to treatment (within 2 weeks), access to psychological therapy, vocational support and physical health monitoring.
Main duties of the job
To assess people with psychosis or possible psychosis
To plan and implement specialist programmes of care for people following the first appearance of psychosis or for a limited period where psychosis is suspected, including carrying a specialist caseload of clients and acting as care co-ordinator
To liaise and work in collaboration with other agencies in planning and assessing programmes of care
To provide specialist advice to service users, carers and professionals
To develop awareness sessions around psychosis and early intervention to be delivered within education and youth services
To undertake audit, research and development activities.
This is an exciting opportunity for practitioners with experience and enthusiasm in delivering psycho-social interventions to contribute to the treatment plan of people suffering with first episode psychosis.
With the role out of the Community Mental Health Framework new standards are expected in the delivery of an Early Intervention Service. This is a fantastic opportunity to train and develop specialist skills.Within the role you would be expected to understand and implement the model for First Episode Psychosis, be familiar with psycho-social interventions and working with individuals experiencing psychosis alongside their families.You will be committed to a recovery based approach promoting social inclusion.

The service currently consists of a Team Manager, Consultant Psychiatrist, Clinical Psychologist, Senior Practitioner, Community Mental Health Practitioners, CBT Therapists, Peer Support worker, Mental Health Support Worker, Administrator as well as a specialist Physical Health and Vocational Practitioner.
