This application is open to both experienced clinical/counselling psychologists, and newly qualified clinical/counselling psychologists looking to launch their career. If you are applying for the post as a newly qualified psychologist, then through our appraisal process, we will be looking to move you up to a senior psychologist (Band 8a) after two years. This vacancy is in the Sarum Community Mental Health Team (CMHT)/ Wiltshire Psychological Therapies Service primarily based in Salisbury.
This post is within the multi-disciplinary CMHT and the Wiltshire Psychological Therapies Service, which is a secondary care service including both local and area wide services. We are an enthusiastic and innovative team which values the input and contribution of all team members, and strives to offer the best services possible to our clients.
Main duties of the job
Working as both part of the Wiltshire PTS and the CMHT offers psychologists the chance to treat a range of disorders and presenting difficulties. This means that you can maintain your skills across a diverse client group, or further develop a specialist interest.
To provide highly specialist psychological assessment and therapy to patients and carers as appropriate to the service.
To provide specialist advice and consultation on clients' formulation and psychological management to other non-psychologist colleagues.
To use specialist psychological knowledge and skills to contribute to the more effective management of patients by the various teams in the area and where appropriate outside of the area.
To clinically supervise trainee clinical/counselling psychologists (after receiving university supervision training), assistant psychologists, less experienced psychology staff, and other professionals.
To contribute to audit, research, policy and service development within the areas served by the Wiltshire Psychological Therapies Service.
To develop and deliver training in psychological therapies for multidisciplinary staff.

A. CLINICAL1. To provide a high quality and largely autonomous and systematicpsychology service.2. To undertake highly specialist assessments, includingneuropsychological assessment, risk assessment and assessment forsuitability for specialist psychological therapies with clients and theircarers (as appropriate to the role).3. To formulate and implement plans for the formal psychologicaltreatment and/or management of clients mental health problems, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the clients problems, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings.4. To be responsible for providing a range of psychological interventionsfor individuals, carers and groups, within and across teams employedindividually and in synthesis, adjusting and refining psychologicalformulations drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.5. To provide at least one specialist evidence based psychologicalintervention as dictated by the needs of the service6. To provide highly specialist consultation to members of the variousteams in the area and beyond regarding formulation and psychologicalmanagement of clients of those teams.7. To use specialist psychological knowledge and skills to contribute tothe more effective management of patients by teams.8. To be involved in the development and delivery of training within theTrust9. To participate in clinical and caseload supervision arrangementsprovided by the Service.10.To maintain accurate records and to monitor clinical workload usingagreed systems.11.To support the full implementation of CPA or equivalent includingacting as care-co-ordinator when appropriate.12.To enter data as requested by the Trust in a timely manner

To fullyobserve the BPS (1996) Code of Conduct and the DCP Guidelines for theProfessional Practice of Clinical Psychology (1995).2. To be aware of, adhere to, and where appropriate, contribute to theformulation and review of Trust, Area, Psychology policies andprocedures. Copies of Trust Policies can be accessed via the staff intranetor from your manager.3. To participate in local psychological therapy and psychology meetings and trust wide meetings as appropriate.4. To maintain and develop high standards of clinical/counselling psychology practice by engaging in continuing professional development and co-operative working/networking with other clinical/counselling psychologists.5. D.SERVICE GOVERNANCE1. To participate in service governance processes in the profession and inthe LDU to maintain a safe, effective service which responds to ServiceUser feedback.2.
