Job summary

The Bristol ROSE Team are looking for a forward thinking, enthusiastic Specialist Recovery Practitioner to join our team, and to help shape a new service.

You will join the Bristol ROSE Team at an exciting time, as we have an opportunity to develop an excellent team. As a Specialist Recovery Practitioner, you will have capped caseloads of 15 clients, enabling you to focus on delivering enhanced engagement interventions.

We would welcome applicants from a Nursing, Occupational Therapy or Social work backgrounds. The Bristol ROSE Team can support you with your learning and development support programme, along with regular supervision. We would support you with an enhanced learning and development support programme.

Once appointed the Bristol ROSE Team can support you to build on your specialist skills and knowledge. You can also have access to a range of training and development opportunities, along with academic studies and attendance at external conferences and courses.

Main duties of the job

We are a citywide service with bases at the Greenway Centre, the Speedwell Centre and Petherton Recourse Centre

Specialist Recovery Practitioner will have capped caseloads of 15 clients, and deliver an enhanced, engagement focused interventions.

If successful you would be working in one of three friendly and supportive teams which are clinically led by a Senior Practitioner and will have access consultant psychiatrists. Experience of community mental health or similar would be an advantage in this role.

Job responsibilities

1.To undertake the full range of activities required to deliver on-goingcomprehensive mental health assessment for service users with severe and enduring mental health needs living in the community and in a range of settings. This will include:a. The use of standardised assessment tools, i.e. the Cluster AllocationSupport Tool (CAST), KGVb. Recovery Starc. History, strengths and aspirationsd. Mental statee. Impact of culture and diversityf. Functional needsg. The needs of family and carerh. Evaluation of riski. Physical healthj. Complicating factorsk. The interventions and treatments required to enable positive change.l. Social care needsm. Safeguarding and public protectionn. Capacity under the Mental Capacity Act

2. To be responsible for developing delivering and reviewing comprehensive and complex treatment programmes using appropriate frameworks in line with evidence based practice, including strategies to manage risk for service users with complex needs and carers, bringing in other resources as required.

3. Use Specialist Dual Diagnosis assessment tools and treatmentinterventions, based on the Cognitive-Behavioural Integrated TreatmentApproach, and might include specific mental health and/or substance misuse screening and assessment tools, harm reduction strategies, motivational interviewing and relapse prevention

4. Provide specialist dual diagnosis advice, information, co-workingsupervision and teaching to other professionals in their team, service users and their carers

5. Challenge the stigmatisation of addictive behaviours and actively promote social inclusion.

6. Receive clinical supervision/leadership from alcohol and drug services and support from the Consultant Nurse in Dual Diagnosis

7. To act as care coordinator for service users with the most complex needs, also providing appropriate interventions to individuals on other workers caseloads.

8. To plan, deliver and evaluate defined, specialist therapeutic interventions as indicated in the assessment process ,in line with personal recovery plans, including to service users who maybe on other caseloads. This might include:a. Individual or group therapeutic interventionb. Psychological treatments such as CBT, DBT approaches , familyinterventionsc. Psychosocial interventionsd. Motivational and coping enhancement strategies. e. Medication managementf. Interventions under the Mental Health Act,

9. To deliver a range of appropriate activities/interventions to improve thecarers ability to support the service user and to enable them in theirrelationship with the service user.

10. To develop and maintain good partnership working with other servicesthroughout all treatment episodes, including regular liaison within Primary Health Care Team, inpatient and intensive services, day services, voluntary sector and with nominated carers/advocates.

11. In collaboration with service users and carers, to be responsible forfacilitating the development of complex comprehensive crisis plans, rapidaccess plans, advance statements etc, involving other agencies such asprimary care etc. where appropriate.

12. To personally build and lead others to build, hope inspiring relationships with service users, which acknowledge the personal journey of each person, and focus on strengths and aspirations to allow the creation of meaningful personal recovery plans.

13. To be responsible for maintaining own workload, as well as planning the workload of others, on a day to day basis, ensuring that time is prioritisedeffectively, utilising of electronic resources such as diaries/scheduling.

14. To be responsible for the protection of individuals from abuse and harm in line with local safeguarding policies and procedures, including working with others in the planning development and review of protection plans, ensuring the appropriate sharing of information.

15. Coordinating and undertaking protective interventions which may berequired in the protection of others, as outlined in the protection plan, taking individual action where indicated.

16. Personally and leading others to collaboratively and sensitively workwith individuals, with a range of mental health needs to develop skills tomanage their own health, in accordance with their personal recovery plan, by actively promoting and using approaches which are affirming, build onstrengths, identify past positive experiences and success, and use small steps to move towards the persons goal.

17. Undertake active clinical leadership and supervision within the team,covering for the manager and colleagues as required.

18. To maintain the single health and social care record, ensuring both paper and electronic records are kept up to date in accordance with professional and organisational standards.

19. Report and record within agreed timeframes, all activity relating toinformation reporting and performance requirements.

20. To participate in management, caseload and clinical supervision inaccordance with trust policy.

21. To provide mentoring/training for others in relevant practice areas,according to professional requirements, taking a collaborative approach to practice development and evidence-based care.
