An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialty Doctor to join the Bristol Early Intervention in Psychosis team on a part time basis.
The Early Intervention Service is based in the centre of the city adjacent to the large city centre general hospitals. The building is shared with the specialist drug and alcohol service and CAMHS Intensive Outreach team.
It provides a range of bio - psychosocial interventions to young people between the ages of 14 - 35 across the whole city. The current caseload is approximately 240. The post holder will provide clinical input across the team caseload, supporting the work of the Consultant Psychiatrist.
The service started in 2007 and has grown in line with a development plan based on National Policy Implementation Guidance and now consists of a multidisciplinary team of 37.
Main duties of the job
As the post holder you will support the consultant psychiatrist in providing clinical input into the EI Team. You will follow local protocols and will use the clinical sessions to work flexibly to best meet the needs of service users and their families within the Early Intervention Team framework. This will include involvement with families and carers, care programme meetings and liaising with service users during inpatient treatment.
You may be involved in new patient assessments where medical expertise is required and will have the opportunity to access training in administering the CAARMs (Clinical At Risk Mental State) assessment tool.
You will be offered regular supervision by the Consultant Psychiatrist, and will have access to clinical discussions with the Multidisciplinary team on a daily basis both informally and through daily "red matrix" risk meetings and the weekly Early Intervention MDT meeting.
There will be the opportunity to attend weekly journal clubs and academic meetings. There is no on-call with this post but there may be the opportunity to join the out of hours full shift rota.
You must have completed at least four years' full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme in Psychiatry or as a fixed term specialty trainee in Psychiatry; or shall have equivalent experience and competencies.
