Job summary

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a fully qualified and experienced Family Therapist/ Systemic psychotherapist to join our team in the Adolescent Inpatient Hospital located in Blackberry Hill Hospital, Bristol.

Riverside is a 16 place Tier 4 CAMHS service for young people aged 13 -18 years with a range of mental health disorders that provides General Adolescent Care as well as running an Eating Disorders Programme.

As a Family therapist / Systemic Psychotherapist you will have undertaken the AFT registered Systemic Family Therapy course and be UKCP registered as a Family Therapist.

The role will involve working within the Multi Disciplinary and Family Therapy team, contributing to all aspects of the Young People's treatment plans alongside the overall therapeutic programme within the Unit. This will include offering individual family therapy, being part of the family therapy clinic, offering team/case consultation, taking part in therapeutic/CPA meetings and contributing to research and development all in a way which coheres with the overall treatment philosophy of the Unit which is to provide excellent care

The post holder will be a member of the multi-disciplinary team within the Riverside Unit responsible for providing an inpatient service for tier 4 patients (both inpatient and day patient services)

Promote the use of effective systemic interventions and evidence-based practice in the service.

Help support, and consult into the care management of young peoples care packages whilst at Riverside.

To contribute to the care of Young People by attending and/or facilitating meetings such as CPAs, Therapy team meetings, Quality and Standards meeting, Community Group etc

To attend appropriate staff groups such as Reflective Group, Milieu Meeting etc.

Liaise with the wider service network and provide consultation when required.

Ensure that a systemic perspective is held during the care of young people and the Unit.

Liaise effectively with referrers, local CAMHS and Adult Services and work alongside teams to offer seamless service delivery when work transfers over to other teams and services.

Plan, facilitate and evaluate group work interventions in line with the therapeutic programme of the unit.

Provide training, as appropriate, to the team at Riverside and wider within the Trust.

Participate fully in the development of the service as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, to include involvement in clinical activity (audit and evaluation of the service, outcome evaluation and governance).

Participate in own clinical, case load and management supervision as appropriate. Accountable for own clinical work and requires skills in case load management.

Participate in the annual appraisal process.

Adhere to local Working Together arrangements, in particular, Child Protection guidelines.

Carry out other duties as may be requested by management.

Liaise effectively with referrers, local CAMHS and Adult Services and work alongside teams to offer seamless service delivery when work transfers over to other teams and services.

Participate in additional activities alongside team members and outside agencies taking part in the Families in the Wild programme (outdoor activities)

Essential

  • Postgraduate qualification in family and systemic psychotherapy.
  • Registration as a systemic psychotherapist with UKCP.

Desirable

  • First degree and or professional qualification or equivalent in social work, nursing or psychology or other first qualification as recognised by AFT.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience as a CAMHS clinician in multiple contexts including Eating Disorders.
  • Post qualification experience in child and adolescent mental health speciality and in working with families with severe and complex difficulties.
  • Ability to assess, develop and implement treatment for individual patients and for families and to practice in accordance within organisational structures and guidelines.
