Job summary

This is an exciting time to join an established Primary Care Health Psychology Service. The service is seeking a psychologist with an interest in health psychology to work within the Swindon IAPT / Primary Care Psychology Service. We are seeking a highly skilled, enthusiastic, and creative clinician who is able to work collaboratively with the team as well as partner organisations.

The post holder will have the opportunity to provide clinical services to those with a variety of physical health conditions (e.g. chronic pain, long COVID, CFS, diabetes, COPD and CHD). This will include delivering specialist psychological interventions to those with complex needs as well as providing supervision, consultancy and training to the wider service workforce. The post holder will also have the opportunity to work within specialist MDT clinics including diabetes and long COVID clinics providing intervention, consultation & supervision.

The post holder will be based at the Swindon IAPT site, located in Old Town GP practice, Swindon, and consists of a blend of office-based and remote working.

Main duties of the job

The service has a strong community psychology ethos and benefits from long established partnerships with local GP practices, physical health teams and public service teams. The post holder would have the opportunity to further such collaborations and contribute to further LTC service and pathway developments, as well as undertake service evaluation and clinical audit projects. The service also has close links with the University of Bath Clinical Psychology Doctoral Programme and the MSc Health Psychology Course, regularly hosting trainees and students.

To undertake highly specialist assessments, including neuropsychologicalassessment , risk assessment and assessment for suitability for specialistpsychological therapies with clients and their carers ( as appropriate to the role).3. To formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/ormanagement of clients mental health problems, based upon an appropriateconceptual framework of the clients problems, and employing methods basedupon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings.4. To be responsible for providing a range of psychological interventions forindividuals, carers and groups, within and across teams employed individually andin synthesis, adjusting and refining psychological formulations drawing upondifferent explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.5. To provide at least one specialist evidence based psychological intervention asdictated by the needs of the service6. To provide highly specialist consultation to members of the various teams in thearea and beyond regarding formulation and psychological management of clientsof those teams.7.
