Avon & Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust
This job is now closed
Job summary
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic person to join the Bristol Autism Spectrum Service (BASS) - a multi-disciplinary, multi-agency team working with autistic adults across Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset and Bath and North East Somerset. The post-holder will contribute to a range of activities, but their main priority will be to occupy the role of clinical lead for the BASS post-diagnostic service. This will essentially involve them leading the development and delivery of a range of innovative, evidence-based interventions to improve the lives of local autistic people, as well as having a lead role in setting the strategic direction of the service. The post-holder will also lead a small clinical psychology team within BASS, undertake diagnostic assessments, and will contribute to other areas of service provision as required.
Main duties of the job
The primary focus of the post will be to lead the development, implementation and evaluation of a specialist, post-diagnostic support service for autistic people and their families and carers. This will involve leading a number of service improvement projects alongside an experienced team of autism professionals, including: the development and implementation of a holistic, psychologically-informed post-diagnostic service, the supervision of an ICS-wide autism social prescribing project, and the development and evaluation of a pilot for an autism-specific psychological therapies service.
The successful candidate will also be involved in the provision of a range of other services undertaken by the team, including: providing complex diagnostic assessments, facilitating supervision, case discussions and reflective practice sessions with the wider MDT, training and supervision of other professionals across the care pathway, as well as undertaking clinical audit and research & development. The post-holder will also be a key member of the BASS senior management team and will have a role in the ongoing development, strategic direction and operational management of the service.
Experience of working with autistic adults is essential, as is a commitment to working with, and advocating for this client group. Excellent interpersonal communication and written skills and a track record of successful service development are key to this role.
