Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled PBS practitioner with a PBS/ABA qualification to provide maternity cover until April 2023. We are a person centred, friendly and innovative service dedicated to providing best practice to children and young people with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour and their carers.
Main duties of the job
To provide specialist Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) services for children and young people with Learning Disability and behaviours that challenge.
The post holder will deliver direct assessment/intervention services to children and their carers referred to the service.
The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary and be professionally accountable to the service lead for their practise and conduct.
Provision of specialist psychological advice, consultation and training for other professionals, teams and agencies involved in the care of children with learning difficulties.

To provide a range of Positive Behavioural Support services to support children and families referred to the service. This will include the following,
Together with other members of the iPBS team, to formulate and implement plans for the assessment and intervention and/or management of emotional and behavioural difficulties of clients, based primarily upon the science of applied behaviour analysis (i.e., behavioural science) and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings.
The interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including measures of behaviour, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the clients care, including frontline workers in health, education, social services and the voluntary sector.
To evaluate and make decisions about intervention options taking into account both the theoretical model and highly complex factors concerning historical, environmental and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group.
To work as part of the service and provide evidence-based, specialist behavioural function based assessments and interventions for children and young people with Learning Disability and behaviour that challenges.

Essential
- Post graduate degree in applied psychology or equivalent or Masters in ABA/PBS or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years post qualification experience
- Registered with relevant professional body
- Knowledge of Evidence Base Practice in PBS and applied behaviour analysis
Desirable
- Ability to conduct risk assessments and develop risk management plans for children and young people with LD and behaviour challenges
- Knowledge of local Working Together arrangements
- Ability to address complex clinical issues within the context of multi-disciplinary team working
