Job summary

An exciting career opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Band 5 RMN/LD Nurse to join the STEPS Eating Disorders Inpatient Team on our 10 bedded standalone unit at Acer Unit, Blackberry Hill Hospital in Bristol.

STEPs Specialist Eating Disorder Inpatient Unit is an AIMS Accredited ward which specialises in providing outstanding care for service users with eating disorders.

The unit has also been awarded Team of the year in 2017 and 2021

We are looking for a Band 5 RMN/LD nurse that has some knowledge of working as a Band 5 RMN/LD Nurse or a newly qualified nurse. It is desirable that you are enthusiastic and motivated to work with eating disorders. You should be able to demonstrate effective shift coordination and organisational skills in a clinical area, providing support clear clinical leadership to Health care assistants working on the ward. You will need to demonstrate effectiveness in ensuring the continuity of care for service users and full implementation of Trust policies.

You will have an opportunity to take responsibility for specific duties within the ward, such as key-working and clinical management of service user needs, as well as maintaining expected service delivery standards.

Support will be through the brilliant supervision structures we have in place, we also have excellent reflective practice for staff.

Main duties of the job

To carry out clinical practice within designated clinical areas, ensuring that high qualityevidence-based nursing assessment, care planning, interventions and evaluations forpatients is provided. This will include:o Undertaking a comprehensive, person-centred, nursing assessment and prepare careplans in consultation with the service users to provide the best nursing careo Implementation of care and rehabilitation programmeo Evaluation of effectiveness of care provided in partnership with userso Ability to implement research-based practiceo Following successful completion of preceptorship, ability to supervise junior andunqualified staffo Ability to administer medicine within relevant Trust and legislative guidance e.g. NMCStandards for Medicines Management 2010 and the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.o Ability to undertake risk assessment and develop risk management strategies forindividual clients; ICPA/SAP to people who present with mental health problems.o Demonstrate a working knowledge of the key elements of relevant mental HealthLegislationo Ensure the ordering storage, administration and disposal of medication complies withrelevant trust and legislative guidance e.g. NMC Standards for Medicines Management2010,Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 and MHA (1983
