Job summary

Looking for a new challenge and an opportunity to develop yourself professionally? We are looking for a highly motivated Speech and Language Therapist to work in the Specialist Learning Disability and Autism Diagnostic Team in Swindon. We are a multidisciplinary specialist health service for people with learning disabilities, along with Autism diagnostic assessments for people who do not have LD. This provides us with unique opportunities to develop and work across both areas of the service.

You will hold your own community SALT caseload, including communication and dysphagia assessments, as well as providing advice and support to the team around communication. You will be a part of a team that values a holistic approach to care and understands the need to share and support each other professionally.

Main duties of the job

You will be an enthusiastic individual with excellent motivational and communicative skills. The role will involve providing specialist assessments and interventions for people with learning disabilities and/or autism with complex health needs; including complex physical and mental health conditions and challenging behaviours.

You will be confident in your practice, with experience in the field of Learning Disability Health and/or Autism Diagnosis. You will be able to problem solve and negotiate as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

If you are seeking to develop your specialist role, because you have excellent clinical skills and you are ambitious to progress your career to transform the lives of people with a learning disability, then apply for this role.

About us

The Service operates during office hours.

You will enjoy the benefits of working in AWP, an NHS Trust that is committed to developing highly skilled workforce and actively encourages professional development opportunities. You will be encouraged to participate in additional training and development activities.

You will have monthly clinical and monthly management supervision, as well as excellent training and annual appraisal.

You will also benefit from the generous NHS pension scheme, flexible working opportunities and exclusive NHS discounts.

At AWP we actively encourage applicants from all backgrounds; we are particularly keen to encourage applications from people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds, those with disabilities and from the LGBTQ+ community. We want people to bring their unique blend of experiences, backgrounds, perspectives and knowledge to AWP, as diversity makes us stronger.
