We are looking for a Clinical Psychologist to join our team of specialist Psychological Therapists working within the Bristol Complex Psychological Interventions Service (CPI). The opportunity to develop and evaluate 1:1 and group services to a rich array of secondary mental health presentations is the core of the post.
The Complex Psychological Interventions Team (CPI), is part of Bristol Mental Health. CPI offers a range of activities to support psychologically informed care within the secondary mental health service. CPI has a strong presence in the Support and Recovery and the Crisis Team.
CPI is comprised of multidisciplinary professions, including Clinical Psychologists, Arts Psychotherapists, Medical Psychotherapists and Specialist Nurses. Staff are located in a central hub (at Callington Road Hospital), as well as at community mental health team bases. CPI provide a range of services both direct to clients, and supportive functions to staff teams that are designed to enhance the interventions delivered by teams, as well as contributing to the resilience and well-being of staff.
CPI offer complex assessment and formulation, as well as the provision of a range of therapies including specialist Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and third wave approaches, Cognitive Analytic Therapy, Psychotherapy, Arts Psychotherapies, Family Therapy, Mentalisation Based Therapy (MBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). Therapy is offered in individual and group formats.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will provide specialist assessment, formulation, intervention and evaluation, alongside staff training, supervision, consultation, advice and support to the South Bristol Assessment and Recovery Team. It will be important for applicants to be aware of the latest evidence-based interventions and be able to evidence outcomes.
You would need to be passionate about work with a broad range of complex and enduring mental health difficulties across the life span including older adults who are treated within the 'ageless' service.
To work within the Assessment & Recovery Service, it would be highly desirable for the successful applicants to have experience of delivering therapy to this client group, and to have been trained in NICE guideline interventions (e.g. DBT, CBT etc). You will need excellent interpersonal skills to support the development of psychological thinking and intervention within our multidisciplinary team. Experience of delivering supervision and training would be essential.
