The North East Ambulance Service operates a fully integrated service providing both 111 and 999 services to the North East region.
We are seeking sessional GPs to work within our Integrated Urgent Care Clinical Assessment Service (IUC-CAS).
You will work within a multi-disciplinary team comprising Doctors, Advanced Practitioners and Pharmacists, along with administrative support.
The CAS provides remote telephone and video assessment for urgent care cases initially triaged via a health advisor or clinician. As a sessional GP you may also be required to support the ambulance dispatch function, supporting, and advising our clinicians and/or crews on scene, who require senior clinical decision-making guidance.
Feedback and support - both ongoing and in relation to revalidation - will be provided through a managerial structure that includes a Lead GP and Deputy Medical Director.
Candidates must be able to undertake remote assessment utilising both telephone and video.
We have a range of sessional shifts available covering both the in hours and out of hours period: weekdays, evenings, bank holidays and overnight working.
Roles are varied and may include a combination of working on site, undertaking home visits supporting the out of hours palliative care service or working off site, based at home.
Our sites are located at Newcastle Newburn, Hebburn and Wynyard.

Main duties of the job
Job Summary
Sessional GPs can be based onsite and/or work remotely in response to patient demand to form part of the regional Clinical Assessment Service (CAS) Multi-Disciplinary Team.
This service will promote self-care, provide advice, support for patients at home and act as the gatekeeper to the wider urgent care system, facilitating onward referral where necessary to a range of primary and secondary care services.
In addition to supporting the CAS you will give clinical support to our Advanced Practitioners in support of the out of hours contracts, this may requrie occasional home visits.
You will provide enhanced clinical assessment, diagnosis via telephone or video triage and revalidation of ambulances disposition, to patients who have contacted the NHS 111 or 999 services. You will also provide clinical leadership to our multi-disciplinary teams, inclusive of Call Handlers, Nurses, Paramedics and Advanced Practitioners within our CAS.
The GP will be based at one of our Ambulance Emergency Operation Centre'sin Newcastle, South Tyneside, or Wynyard.
