Main duties of the job

The Director of Quality and Safety is a clinical, professional member of the Trust Board, with shared responsibility for corporate leadership, strategic development and planning and governance of the Trust.

The post holder is responsible for advising the Trust Board and Governors on issues relating to Quality and Safety alongside professional standards, discharging full statutory responsibilities to ensure that the Trust is compliant with appropriate policy and practice in the management of nursing and other clinical colleagues. This includes providing professional and clinical leadership to all nursing (Executive Nurse) and clinical staff across the organisation to ensure excellence in service delivery through the highest standards of professional practice and clinical performance.

The Director provides professional advice to the Board working in conjunction with both the Deputy Director and Senior Paramedicine leaders.

Along with the Medical Director, the post holder will advise and support the Board to ensure there is a high level of understanding and assurance linked to how strategic decisions impact on the quality and safety of patient care, clinical outcomes and the patient experience.

You will also be responsible for ensuring robust clinical governance is in place to deliver improvements in the quality of clinical care and lead the delivery of our Quality Priorities.

  • Clinical or professional leadership qualification.
