  • Shifts: Monday - Sunday 24/7 Shift patterns (07:00-19:00 / 12:00-00:00 / 19:00-07:00)

Here at North East Ambulance Service we have exciting opportunities for Communications Officers to join our Patient Transport Dispatch Team working from our Operations Centre at Newburn.

The successful candidates will be integral members of the control room team with responsibility for the effective deployment of the Trusts vehicles to non-emergency calls across the Trust area.

Working within a team who plan and schedule journeys you would be providing a vital link between our Scheduled Care ambulance control and our operational staff.

Main duties of the job

Working as part of the Patient Transport Service Dispatch your main responsibilities will be.

Acting as a liaison between our Scheduled Care ambulance control and our operational staff

Working within a team who plan and schedule journeys ensuring maximum utilisation of resources.

Operating radio and telephone equipment to ensure excellent communication between operational staff and control.

Recording relevant patient information onto our bespoke bookings system

Liaising with medical/non-medical staff to ensure patient details are correct to ensure appropriate transport meets patient and escort needs

  • 3 GCSE's grade C and above, including English and Mathematics (or higher) or equivalent or relevant experience

Knowledge

Essential

  • Geographical knowledge of area covered by the Trust
  • Have basic knowledge of medical and patient requirements

Desirable

  • Extensively trained in cleric system
  • Trained on airwaves radio and telephone system (ICCS)

Experience

Essential

  • Previous administration experience.

Desirable

  • Experience of dealing with patient and transport queries
  • Experience in a contact centre/logistics role
  • Ability to multi-task with conflicting priorities
