Job summary
The Bristol Urological Institute wishes offer an exciting opportunity to appoint 2 Senior Clinical Fellows in Robotic Pelvic Oncology Urology, both posts commencing October 2026 for 12 months.
The post is best suited for trainees at the end of their urological training or post-CCT and wish to pursue a sub-specialty career in Robotic Pelvic Onco-Urology . There is also plenty opportunity to participate in the ongoing research in the department.
The post offers experience in specialised Robotic Pelvic Onco-Urology.
The successful candidates will be expected to participate in the service activities in the department.
It is desirable that candidates have experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices or equivalent.
Overseas applicants are expected to be eligible for registration with the General Medical Council and have passed the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum overall score of 7.5. Main duties of the job

The post holder will participate in a 1:14 on call rota, and will be responsible for the day to day management of ward patients.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the service activities in the department.
Teaching
The Bristol Urological Institute has an active teaching programme and Fellows and Registrars are expected to actively participate in this activity.
The post holder will be available to undertake teaching sessions for medical students and junior doctors as required. In certain circumstances you may be required to cover a colleague's clinical duties in order that they may deliver teaching sessions
Research
A 1/2 day dedicated research session is provided for all fellows/SpRs. There are several ongoing research projects and fellows are expected to participate in these projects as well as undertaking at least one audit project during their training.

Southmead Hospital offers a complex and core Urological services through the Bristol Urological Institute (BUI). The Institute is a tertiary referral centre and has gained a global reputation and has become a major National and International surgical, education and research centre. The clinicians at the BUI have always been at the cutting edge; introducing robotic surgery for urological cancers and reconstruction, pioneering urodynamics, promoting minimally invasive kidney stone surgery, advancing complex andrology/penile cancer, genito-urethral reconstruction and investing in community delivered diagnostics.
The Bristol Urological Institute (BUI)is a long establishedresearch unit. It attracts major national and international grants, the BUI publishes extensively in all areas of urology and coordinates and participates in international clinical trials.
The Department is the centre for complex urological cancer care for the ASW Cancer Network and has a large urological cancer workload serving a population of 2 million+. The Department sees over 1000 new urological cancer cases p/a. More than 700 complex cancer surgical cases are dealt with within the department covering all urological cancers. The BUI is also the regional centre for testicular and penile cancer services.
The BUI has 3 robotic surgical systems and is a centre of excellence recognised by both the European Association of Urology (EAU) and The Urology Foundation (TUF).
