This is an exciting opportunity to join the Breast team as a full time (10pa) substantive Consultant Breast Radiologist (symptomatic and screening) here at North Bristol Trust.
The post will cover all aspects of breast imaging, including the NHS BSP, with the possibility of 1 PA general radiology within the main radiology department.
This post is offered to suitably qualified, positive and patient-focused professionals who want to work in a dynamic, large and high performing Breast Cancer service.
Bristol Breastcare Centre delivers both the screening and symptomatic services across 2 sites in Southmead and Weston General Hospitals. Main duties of the job
The symptomatic breast work of the new post will involve one-stop clinics and further assessment of the recalled patient .
Participation at MDT meetings and the reporting of MRI and staging CT expected. Depending on the experience and professional development aspirations of the post holder, the role may also involve stereo core biopsies, MRI guided biopsies, CT angiography pre-reconstruction and ultrasound guided VAEs.
There would be an expectation that the successful candidate would become involved in training, guiding, mentoring and continued professional development of Specialist Registrars in Radiology, Advanced Practitioners and Consultant Radiographers.

Qualifications & Registration
Essential
- MBBS and FRCR or equivalent
- Full registration with the GMC with a licence to practice.
- oEntry on GMC Specialist Register; eligible for entry on Register or within six months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview
Desirable
- Higher academic qualification (e.g. MD)
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development including CME
Training & Experience
Essential
- Recent experience and familiarity of UK hospital systems and practices (or equivalent)
- Minimum of 2 years postgraduate experience including higher Radiology training, 5 years as a Radiology registrar in an approved training post or equivalent
- Experience in Breast screening (Symptomatic and Screening)
- Experience in Breast clinical examination, assessment and one-stop clinics
- Breast interventions procedures including ultrasound guided and stereo core and VAB biopsies, fine needle aspirations and wire localisations under mammogrpahic and ultrasound guidance
- Proficient in General and cross-sectional radiology

- Experience in audit projects
