Job summary

An exciting opportunity is now available within the NBT eXtra temporary staffing team as a Clinical Competence Advisor. Working with our Clinical Competence Lead for non-medical staff you will play in integral role in providing clinical guidance and advice for our clinical workers across NBT. This is an ideal opportunity for an enthusiastic person to use their clinical skills in a new team, and contribute to enhancing the temporary staffing provision across the Trust.

Professional NMC registration is required for the role, however we would consider applications also from other professional registrants (i.e HCPC registered)

Main duties of the job

The Clinical Competence Advisor will provide clinical guidance and advice for all matters relating to the nursing practice of bank Registered Nurses (RN) and bank Health Care Support Workers (HCSW), and other clinical roles and is professionally responsible for maintaining quality standards for the supply of clinical (Non-Medical) temporary Bank and Agency workers.The post holder will play a pivotal role in the management and compliance of key performance indicators aligned to but not limited to complaints, concerns and clinical incidents reported via Datix involving Bank and Agency workers, Mandatory and Statutory Training (MaST) andTemporary workers inductions, Bank and Agency.The post holder will provide expert advice to internal, external service users and Bank workers across the organisation promoting compliance and clinical best practice across the organisation for the provision and usage of temporary workforce

Job responsibilities

Leadership and management

Provide professional leadership and management to all clinical Bank and Agency workers within NBT.

Assist with the recruitment, induction and ongoing support for all clinical Bank workers, facilitate ongoing development of individual staff.

Always ensure compliance with electronic and evidence-based developments in care to enable patient safety.

Support management of complaints received for both Bank and agency staff.

Support the management of the Trusts relationship with external agency providers.

Provide a proactive interface between NBT eXtra Bank team and key stakeholders e.g. Heads of Nursing, Matrons, Wards/Department/Divisional managers and BNSSG partners.

Deputise for the Clinical competence lead, as and when required and work as part of the cohesive Resourcing/NBT eXtra team.

Recruitment

Assist with the selection, interviewing and assessment of Bank clinical staff including Nursing, Healthcare support workers and Allied Health Professionals.

Assist in the development and implementation of strategies for recruitment and retention of Registered Nurses, Nursing Assistants and Allied Health Professionals.

Ensure that all clinical Bank staff have a current and up to date professional registration and support their revalidation.

Be aware of recruitment and employment legislation issues relevant to nursing.

Use the TRAC system and other platforms to facilitate the recruitment process.

Support the induction process of new Bank staff into the Trust, operating in accordance with Trust policy, Terms and Conditions.

Receive complaints, concerns or clinical incidents from internal and external service users including temporary workers. These could be received verbally, via email and or via Datix.

Education

Assist with management of non-compliance of essential training for all Bank staff

Participate in planning and facilitating education programmes and clinical learning experiences for all Registered Bank staff.

Facilitate training development and updates for bank Healthcare Support Workers.

Act as a positive role model.

Maintain own professional development, accountability and revalidation.

Support staff with appraisals and revalidation.
