Job summary
The post holder will provide the clinical and managerial leadership for the Plastics & Breast Cluster. They will be supervisory in clinical practice, responsible for ensuring that standards of care are upheld at all times.
Working with the Matron they will take responsibility for providing a clear focus for the profession and effective clinical leadership and accountability for the Plastics & Breast Cluster. They will be responsible for ensuring that they and their team act in a manner that upholds the values of the Trust and that of the profession.
Main duties of the job
Working in collaboration with the Matron and Specialty Team the individual will be expected to:
- Participate in activity with the Specialist Team to manage and develop the service in line with local and national requirements ensuring the delivery of performance targets
- Line manage a team of staff working within designated clinical area
- Work closely with Matron to ensure the efficient and effective running of area of responsibility
- Have overall responsibility for ensuring their clinical area is safe
- Deputise for the Matron and form part of the Directorate senior nursing team
- Contribute to the development of patient-centred services
- Be responsible for successful attainment of Trust and National quality and safety objectives within area of responsibility
- Provide expert clinical advice and care within designated area of responsibility
The individual will be visible and accessible to patients and their families and staff, ensuring all patients and staff have the opportunity to seek information, help and support or to communicate problematic or celebratory issues.

Essential
- 1st Level Registered Nurse /Operating Department Practitioner
- Post registration qualification in area of specialism
- Recognised teaching and assessing and mentoring qualification
- Documented evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Desirable
- Educated to degree level as a minimum (or equivalent)
- Working towards a Masters level qualification
- Evidence of RCA training/ability to undertake RCA's
