Imaging Support Worker (ISW)
We are recruiting ISW's to work in the Brunel Building at Southmead Hospital within the imaging department:
You will be part of the rotational Plain Film team and will be rostered to work the following:
Week 1 Monday - Friday 0700-1500
Week 2 Monday - Friday 1400-2200
Week 3 Monday - Friday - Relief
Week 4 Monday - Friday 0800-1600
Week 5 Monday - Friday 0900-1700
Week 6 Monday - Friday 0800-1600
You will promote a friendly and welcoming environment greeting patients attending the Imaging department and work alongside other professional Imaging staff. Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
You will assist patients prior, during and post procedure ensuring their privacy and dignity is maintained. You will act a chaperone, reassure patients, keep the rooms tidy and escort and transport patients as required using wheelchair, beds trollies.
Flexibility is important, there may be an opportunity to work additional hours to ensure we have adequate staffing levels.
There is an opportunity to learn additional skills working towards a band 3.
Please be aware that you will be expected to attend a 2-week induction prior to working in the department.

Main duties of the job
An Imaging Support Worker is a member of the Team appointed to receive patients into the department and support other Imaging Department staff to assist patients to meet their needs when visiting the Radiology Department
The post holder will be expected to undertake a broad range of activities under the direction of registered Imaging department staff

Reception:
Promote a friendly and welcoming environment for both staff and visitors in order to inspire confidence in the department and Trust.
Receive and assist patients and all visitors attending the department in a courteous and professional manner.
Ensure request forms and other documentation is correctly completed in line with departmental procedures.
Maintain and update accurate attendance, personal and appointment details on the Computerised Radiology Information Systems (CRIS)
Update the electronic hospital system to ensure the correct patient details are available on the CRIS.
Confidently deal with queries coming through the department via telephone and face to face.
Receive and accurately pass on information to relevant personnel.
Deal with incoming post and distribute throughout their area and where necessary re-direct to the correct area.
Perform general clerical duties and work within clerical teams under the office supervisor.
Clinical:
Support registered radiology/nursing staff in the provision of essential care to patients by assisting patients whilst in the radiology department according to trust policy and procedures with:
Acting as a chaperone whilst undergoing some examinations
To assist in the Imaging rooms, giving explanations and reassurance
Aiding dressing and undressing
To be able to undertake reception duties when required
Help to promote and maintain a clean, comfortable and tidy environment in thedepartment, which meets the needs of patients, their relatives/carers and friends
Contribute to accurate written and computerised documentation relevant to patient careensuring confidentiality of patient information at all times.
Assist the multi professional team to prepare and support patients undergoingtreatment and/or investigation maintaining privacy and dignity at all times
Chaperone patients during intimate procedures as required.
Escort and transport non-acute patients with no treatment in progress and/or their relatives/carers to other wards and departments within the Trust , via wheelchair, beds and trolleys
Be aware of the importance of good health and the health education needs of patientsas identified within individual care plans.
After completion of the appropriate training
prepare and undertake agreed clinical activities (These will vary between wards anddepartments) such as:
a) Receive and store medication and products
b) Use of mechanical aids to assist movement and handling of patients
c) Assist with the preparation of trolleys for use in clinical areas
Personal Responsibilities
Maintain personal standards of hygiene and promote universal precautions to limit cross infection
To wear uniform as agreed by North Bristol Trust
Participate in training and development programmes as identified by the departmentManager and contribute to the development of others
Keep up to date with changing practice attend Trust training programmes as required
Ensure the Trusts Policies and Procedures are known and followed
Refer to the registered Radiographer/Nurse regarding any situation which is not within your current responsibility
