Job summary

This role presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation of NBT's Urgent and Emergency Care (UEC) programme, which encompasses the delivery of high quality urgent and emergency care services and patient experience and contributing to the delivery of national UEC performance standards.

This position offers a significant opportunity to influence and contribute to clinical and operational projects that will have a real impact on patient care, all within a progressive and expanding team. The role involves working in a fast-paced environment of change, meeting strict deadlines, and engaging with a diverse group of stakeholders on a daily basis.

This role is part of our Reset & Recovery team, which executes extensive, interdisciplinary programs of work. It utilises expert programme management skills, operational support, and analytical insight to pinpoint areas for enhancement.

Main duties of the job

This role reports to the Urgent and Emergency Care Programme Manager and initially it's focus is on the supporting the delivery of NBTs UEC Programme, it will also offer the chance to manage projects throughout the entire Reset and Recovery portfolio. Additionally, it will coordinate with the Financial Sustainability team to capitalize on identified cross-cutting opportunities.

As a Project Manager on the team, your responsibility includes ensuring that the allocated projects within the UEC programme are meticulously planned, coordinated, and executed, with benefits clearly identified from the outset and achieved upon delivery.

It is anticipated that you will apply your knowledge and experience to guarantee that projects and broader programmes are completed within the established time frames and budgetary limits.

Your capacity to forge robust relationships and establish trust with clinical and operational teams will facilitate the execution of these programmes and projects.

About us

As a project manager at North Bristol NHS Trust, you will be directly responsible for managing the delivery of comprehensive projects. These projects aim to either assist our clinical divisions in regaining their activity levels post-COVID impact or to optimize the use of our limited resources.

You will be part of the Reset & Recovery team, which implements extensive, overarching programs of work. This involves utilising programme management expertise, providing operational management support, and conducting analyses to uncover areas for enhancement.

Within the project, the role holder will be responsible for:

Managing allocated projects from across the Reset and Recovery portfolio through their lifecycle from inception to delivery.

Managing projects on a day-to-day basis. Our current model means it is likely that the postholder will manage projects that will impact across the Trust, however on occasion this may vary should Divisional project support be required.

Supporting clinical and operational teams to develop and plan projects and update documentation describing these plans.

Supporting the creation of business cases and managing them through the organisational review and approval cycle.

Identifying and supporting achievement of project benefits realisation.

Developing and maintaining project plans, forward planners and other documentation such as RAID logs.

Supporting clinical and operational teams with the delivery

Organising project boards and ensuring actions are captured and completed.

Providing routine reporting and communications material for boards and the wider organisation.

In addition:

Be prepared to step in and provide occasional operational support to programme/general managers.

Provide focused pieces of work on specific areas, as necessary.

Provide input into regular summary reports which are submitted to the Trust Board and other groups.

Recognising some projects will lead to both operational and financial improvement, attend Financial Sustainability meetings as required to provide updates on programme and project development and delivery and to problem solve with colleagues.

Deputise for Programme Managers, as required.
