An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant People Advisor to join the People Team at North Bristol Trust. The People Team strives to make NBT the very best place to work. We provide advice, guidance and HR operational support to 12,000+ colleagues and develop the most innovative people practices to enable our people to thrive.
This role is predominately based in the People Hub in Southmead Hospital with the option for some hybrid working and is responsible for supporting staff and managers at all points in the employee journey, from the start to the end of their employment at NBT. It is mainly operational and advisory, with opportunity for supporting project work.
We welcome applications from candidates interested in an apprenticeship in this role. The options are Level 3 HR Support or Level 5 People Professional:
- The successful candidate will need to be able to balance working in a busy and dynamic environment alongside their studies. This will likely require undertaking personal development and study activities in their own time as well as that which is mandated by the apprenticeship program.
- Levels 3 and 5 will take a minimum of 18 and 22 months respectively.
- Maths and English will be required at level 2/D for the level 3 apprenticeship and level 4/C for the level 5 apprenticeship.
- Delivery of the apprenticeship will be online, with an allocated tutor for support throughout, as well as time in working week to complete apprenticeship learning.

The main duties of the Assistant People Advisor include:
- Providing advice and support to managers and staff on Trust people policies, procedures and terms and conditions.
- Explaining complex processes, procedures and potential outcomes
- Keeping resources up to date including manager toolkits, template letters, forms, etc in a knowledgeable and helpful manner.
- Following set procedures for identifying when queries require people intervention
- Contributing to the achievement of Key Performance Indicators and Service Level Agreements, including turnaround times, advice and guidance and service standards.
- Working with other departments within the Trust to resolve any issues and advance any improvement initiatives.
- Compiling ad hoc reports as required, eg FOI requests.
- Signposting and transfer managers and staff to other departments where appropriate.
- Analysing queries and trends to identify opportunities for improvements to people services, policies and working practices.
- Training managers on using the Assure ER case system to manage their employee relations cases
- Analysing, interpret and present workforce and other data
