Job summary
The purpose of the post is to assist in the day-to-day operation of the Beds and Mattresses service on the Southmead Hospital site, to provide 7-day service cover.
The Beds and Mattresses service is responsible for the provision of beds and mattresses including pressure relieving dynamic air mattresses within NBT.
Acting both independently and as a member of the team, the post holder will prioritise tasks and provide a professional, efficient, courteous and timely service to ensure that equipment is available for clinical users within North Bristol NHS Trust.
The Beds and mattresses team is part of Clinical Equipment Services (CES), which provides a comprehensive medical equipment management service to North Bristol NHS Trust (NBT) and is registered to the Quality Management System standard ISO9001:2015.
Main duties of the job
Responsibility for the efficient delivery and collection service of beds and mattresses.
Perform Trust-wide sweeps including wards areas to locate Dynamic Mattress Systems to be returned for cleaning or repair.
Clean and reprocess returned equipment in a timely manner.
Undertake basic checks of equipment, reporting faults to the relevant technical teams.
Carry out testing and basic mechanical/electrical repairs of pressure relieving systems.
Demonstrate the basic operation of clinical equipment to clinical staff.
Participate in the established 7-day working rota within the Bed Wash facility.

Clinical Equipment Services sits within the Core Clinical Services Division and provide a variety of services to North Bristol NHS Trust which include a comprehensive Medical Equipment Technical Support Service, a Medical Equipment Library and the Bed and Mattress Service.

Carry out all work in accordance with Quality Management System procedures in operation in the department, alerting the departmental quality manager to quality issues or persistent quality problems.
Take an active part in the development of own knowledge and skills and provide information to others about clinical equipment training opportunities.
Constructively identify issues with the operation of the Bed Wash facility, working with the team to implement agreed changes to processes and procedures to ensure staff safety, efficiency and improve the service delivery for users.
Participate in the established 7-day working rota within the Bed Wash facility.
