The role includes assisting the Doctors with procedures as well as the nursing team. Working within an experienced specialised team and developing roles specific to the specialty.
Educating staff and patients in pain management techniques and supervising student nurses during their placement.
Friendliness and approachability are essential to us as well as the ability to work well with our team.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for supporting the Pain Clinic team in providing exceptional care for patients suffering with chronic pain, within the pain theatre and outpatient pain clinic department.
You will be working as a team member within a nationally recognised pain service assisting clinicians and nursing staff with procedures and clinics.
You will be helping to support patients with long term conditions whilst having opportunities to develop some specialist roles.
You will be holding telephone follow up clinics and be involved in training sessions for patients using specialised equipment.
You will help to maintain a safe and efficient service being able to work undirected at times
You will be able to use essential documentation and have good computer skills.
About us
The Pain Clinic consists of 6 Pain Consultants, Specialist nurses and physiotherapists. We work closely with the pain management team who have psychologists, occupational therapists and physiotherapists with the focus very much on self management. There are group sessions as well as one to one.
We provide a very busy acupuncture service and are one of the largest neuromodulation centres in the UK.
We are a Monday to Friday service and at present there are no weekend or evening services.
