An exciting opportunity has arisen within Pathology stores and Distribution. We are looking for positive & responsible people who are capable ofworking as part of an established team who are flexible regarding working practices, with demonstrable experience in a warehouse/ stores role.
You will play a key role in the provision of Pathology stores and Distribution services, helping to deliver & improve the quality of patient care.
Providing a Pathology Consumables service to local GP surgeries, laboratories, and departments in North Bristol NHS Trust whilst maintaining a robust Pathology Store which will include receipt and distribution duties, pick & pack orders, replenishment, stocktaking, and cleaning of all stores.

Main duties of the job
- Deliver an efficient service, in a timely manner, to all laboratories and external service users e.g., GPs.
- Requisition, receive and maintain supplies and consumables and ensure efficient materials management.
- Maintain stock levels within individual Pathology disciplines including their delivery to the relevant areas.
- Responsible for the issuing of Pathology consumables to hospital wards, GP surgeries, clinics, and nursing homes.

Job responsibilities
1. Day-to-day running of the Pathology Stores and Distribution service ensuring the
availability of consumables, maintaining stock levels and effective rotation of supplies.
2. Receive deliveries of consumables and equipment, unpack and distribute or store as
appropriate.
3. Ensure that any discrepancies or problems with suppliers are addressed and resolved
or raised with the Pathology Sciences Support Manager.
4. Advise service users on the most cost-effective use of consumables.
5. Ensure that all items are stored correctly and arrange chemicals and equipment
disposals as necessary.
6. Maintain computer stores system to record all orders and deliveries.
7. Receipt goods into EROS (FARM) computer system.
8. Facilitate movement of goods, equipment and reagents between stores and the
Pathology Laboratories and other parts of the Trust as required.
9. Participate in regular stocktaking procedures
10. Prepare consignments of items including liquid nitrogen for delivery to GPs and other
service users.
11. Handling of liquid nitrogen and other medical gases in line with department policies and
procedure
12. Gas manifold and Gas cylinders management
13. Ensure storage areas are left secure at all times.
14. Maintain safe and efficient systems of work, following codes of practice.
15. Advise the management team of any price changes.
16. Keep up to date with health and safety training, Maintain competence in all areas of stores and distribution.
17. Adhere to department and Trust policies and procedures.
18. Ensure that any defects to buildings or equipment are reported.
19. Any other relevant duties and responsibilities, which are appropriate to the grade.
