Band 2 Imaging Reception Gate 18/19

We are recruiting a full time Imaging receptionist to work Monday - Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm.
You will be based in the Brunel building Gate 18 and Gate 19 and will be the main point of contact for patients arriving in the Imaging department.
You will be responsible for checking patients details and updating any relevant changes. You will need to confidently deal with queries coming through the department both face to face and via the telephone.
You will be responsible for monitoring the waiting areas to ensure that patients are seen and you will disseminate any relevant information updates to patients and visitors to ensure that they are kept up to date with any changes and/or delays.
You will need to be educated to NVQ 2, GCSE level or equivalent, be an excellent communicator, have a good eye for details and excellent attention to detail whilst working under pressure. It is essential that you are able to work well in a team and be able to manage and complete tasks on your own.
Experience and knowledge of the Imaging terminology is desirable and experience in a hospital office evironment would be advantageous, however full training will be given.
Main duties of the job
Provide an efficient and sympathetic reception service to patients, relatives and staff attending the Imaging department.
You will be the main point of contact for patients arriving for their appointment and will be responsible to updating the Imaging system ensuring that patients are accurately booked in as well as updating patient demographics when required.

Provide a professional and competent appointment service for patients and staff for the Radiology Department.
- Promote a friendly and welcoming environment for both staff and visitors in order to inspire confidence in the department and Trust.
- Receive and assist patients and all visitors attending the department in a courteous and professional manner.
- Maintain a safe environment for patients and staff, raising concerns where appropriate.
- Ensure request forms and other documentation is correctly completed in line with departmental procedures.
- Maintain and update accurate attendance, personal and appointment details on the Computerised Radiology Information Systems (CRIS)
- Update the electronic hospital system to ensure the correct patient details are available on the CRIS.
- Confidently deal with queries coming through the department via telephone and face to face.
- Receive and accurately pass on information to relevant personnel.
- Deal with incoming post and distribute throughout their area and where necessary re-direct to the correct area.
- Have a flexible approach to enable the continuous smooth running of the reception area
- The post holder will need to be flexible to cover colleagues shifts during times of sickness/annual leave.
- The post holder will contribute to own personal development and assist with learning and development activities and will be required to attend mandatory training as well as training essential to this role.
- The post holder will be expected to make changes in own practice in accordance with service needs and demands and offer suggestions for improving services.
- To undertake any such duties commensurate with the grading of the post and the post holder should treat this job outline as flexible as it will be amended as the service requirements alter and/or needs of the position develop.
- Form and maintain good working relationships with all linked professionals and colleagues in the department.
- To ensure any compliments and complaints, from any source, are reported immediately to their Line Manager.
