Job summary

The post holder will be a member of the Infrastructure Support Team within the Technology Services Department which is part of the Informatics Directorate.

This team's role is to provide specialist advice and 24/7 support across a range of Trust Wide technologies and services. This includes the support, planning, installation and management of Local/Wide Area and Wireless Networks, Telephony, Servers and End user device supporting infrastructure. This will involve hardware and software installation and maintenance as well as supporting the Trust Integration Engine.

Cyber Security is an intrinsic part of every role within Technology Services and members will be responsible for patching, monitoring and responding whilst also ensuring all solutions are secure by design.

Team members will provide specialist advice on IM&T projects and policies including their implementation. They will also investigate and resolve a wide range of highly complex IM&T issues and be capable of managing Trust Wide IM&T technical projects.

The post holder will be expected to deal with a range of technical duties, some of which will be undertaken within procedural guidelines and others will be highly complex problem solving tasks requiring critical analysis, research and reporting. There will also be a need to organise substantial blocks of work with a high degree of accountability and to create solutions that require minimal ongoing staff operations by using automation and scripting technology.

Main duties of the job

The role is established as a full time onsite role but with agreement you may be able to balance this and working from home 40 to 60% of the time. There are likely to be times when you have to work 100% onsite.

You would be expected to have the following experience:

  • Bachelor's degree, VQ Level 6 or relevant experience.
  • Requires substantial relevant work experience deploying and/or administrating infrastructure solutions.
  • Requires strong knowledge and experience with multiple infrastructure solutions.
  • Relevant industry certification is preferred.

You will work under general direction within a clear framework of accountability and exercise substantial personal responsibility and autonomy.
