Apprentice Mentor

As an Apprentice Mentor you will be a member of the Talent for Care Team within the Non-Medical Education and Development Team. You will be responsible for supporting apprentices of varying ages & abilities with aspects of their apprenticeship in order to support both successful applications and ensure timely entry into gateway. The role requires working collaboratively and co-operatively with managers of apprentices to ensure they are involved & kept up to date. You will also work alongside other roles within Talent for Care Team to help support employees to deliver effective patient care and to enhance the quality of service delivery. Main duties of the job

Main Duties of this role will be:

  • Effective liaison and co-ordination with apprentices, managers and other members of the team to support apprentices successfully navigate their learning and complete their apprenticeships timely.
  • Plan interventions with apprentices when issues arise or when an apprentice requires support, which are timely and have the required positive outcomes for the apprentice. Work with delegates in a classroom capacity to delivery enrichment activities or workshops as and when required
  • Support the increase in apprenticeship uptake at NBT, particularly in the target groups identified in the MSPF bid by supporting events, and promoting apprenticeships at all NBT sites, and in the community.
  • Ensure any required documentation is completed to the required standards of Apprenticeship or Awarding Body.
  • Provide support where required to other members of the team needing to complete documentation as part of the apprentice's journey.
  • Report any concerns to the apprenticeship relationship manager identifying those issues that may be outside their level of competence.
  • Deputise as and when required for the Apprenticeship Relationship Manager at meetings and events.

Education/Training/Qualifications

Essential

  • A relevant qualification or Foundation Degree or Higher Apprenticeship, supplemented by experience of working in the NHS.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development within own area of occupational competence.

Desirable

  • Confidence in working with IT based products and systems including eportfolios and data reporting tools

Work Experience

Essential

  • Evidence of working in the Healthcare industry
  • Evidence of recent mentoring experience

Desirable

  • Evidence of supporting staff undertaking work-based or vocational training such as an Apprenticeship

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Essential

  • Ability to critically anaylise evidence based literature and undertake departmental research and audits
  • Ability to communicate with staff at all levels including ward or department managers, clinicians and learners
  • Effectively manage own time and workload to be able to work under pressure
  • Good and effective written and oral communication skills to be able to produce presentations and reports in a clear and logical manner
  • Ability to problem solve situations or information and suggest solutions or recommend an appropriate course of action

  • Knowledge of current learning pathways to act as a resource to managers and staff for advice/information on a range of Learning and Development opportunities.
