Job summary

North Bristol NHS Trust is seeking to recruit an experienced client facing Senior Project Manager (construction) to work within its Capital Project Team. The successful applicant will take a leading role in the delivery of NBT's annual capital works plan. The position provides exposure to a diverse range of projects within a healthcare setting, including new build and refurbishment projects ranging from £100K - £10M+ in value. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a track record of client-side delivery, covering all RIBA stages on major schemes. The Estates Department has an exciting and ambitious Estates Strategy and this senior role is pivotal to its successful delivery.

The Successful Estates Senior Project Manager will be part of a busy team delivering a variety of projects within the built environment. Reporting to the Head of Capital Projects you will take responsibility for ensuring your allocated projects are delivered safely on time/cost/quality. You will be required to liaise with Clinical Staff and Managers across the trust building strong relationships and managing stakeholder expectations.

Contract and Contractor management skills are essential to ensure that whilst undertaking works in a live hospital environment that we mitigate and control work activities so that they have as little impact on service delivery as possible.

Work Pattern: Monday - Friday

The remit of the postholder includes but is not limited to the following duties:

System Design and Governance

  • Systematise all aspects of departmental activities where appropriate.
  • Formulate policy in relation to team functions including establishing consistent policies and protocols for delivering best practice.

Business Planning, Financial Management and Strategic Development

  • Support and input into the development of corporate capital policies that inform the process for procuring large scale work programmes
  • Responsible for financial management of capital budgets ranging from £10k to £5m generally and potentially up to £15m for complex large scale programmes

Programme and Project Management

  • Identify accurate and reliable evidence relevant to the project from the large amount of complex information available from relevant.
  • Work with members of the project team to investigate the causes of any variance from target/plan and proactively contribute to the implementation of solutions
