Job summary
The postholder will support the North Bristol Trust counterpart and Programme Manager providing a clinical input into the following workstreams as required:
- Service user involvement and co-production with the BNSSG MVP
- Digital roadmap for maternity services including digital provision due to impact of Covid
- Local workforce strategy
- Promotion of good health pre-conception and during pregnancy
The postholder will ensure that information is provided for highlight and progress reports.
The postholder will attend national and regional events to share good practice and report on progress against the BNSSG maternity transformation plan.
Have the ability to communicate highly complex sensitive or contentious information at a high level, with colleagues across the BNSSG health community. This will include interpreting and analysing highly complex clinical and non-clinical information in order to provide a specialist opinion as to how to ensure the highest quality of care is delivered across BNSSG ICB.
Main duties of the job
Provide clinical leadership for the Local Maternity System, working jointly with the Clinical Lead and North Bristol Trust counterpart to drive transformational change across all relevant services.
Ensure that workstreams for which the post-holder is responsible are developed with full engagement from service users, staff and other stakeholders and reflect the needs of the whole BNSSG ICB area.
Provide clinical leadership to ensure that the workstreams for which the post-holder is responsible achieve their objectives within the timescale for the Programme.
Provide strong leadership to ensure consistency of service across the BNSSG ICB area and all relevant service providers. The postholder will need to work closely with clinical and managerial leads for obstetric and neonatal services to ensure that changes to policy
Work with Trust clinical and managerial leads to support workforce redesign initiatives in order to ensure delivery of the transformation agenda. Lead on setting up evaluation of initiatives to ensure that evidence of effectiveness and outcomes are collected to inform ongoing service improvement.
Work effectively as part of a small team comprising Clinical Lead, Midwifery Clinical Lead, North Bristol Trust counterpart and Programme Manager.
Represent the LMS at the ICB and member organisation Board or Governing Body level where required.

- First level degree or equivalent experience and/or working towards a Masters degree
- Professional clinical experience at a senior level in maternity services and/or neonatology

- Advanced and in depth knowledge of current developments / Issues in obstetrics and gynaecology which may influence the service.
Desirable
- Demonstrate capability to plan over short, medium and long term timeframes and adjust plans and resource requirements accordingly.
