Clinical Fellow (CT1/2 Equivalent) In ICU
Applicants will be able to gain experience in advanced monitoring techniques, cardiovascular management, respiratory care including advanced airway management, tracheostomy care and renal support. Basic procedures such as venous cannulation, basic and advanced life support are assumed to be within the abilities of all appointees.
Main duties of the job
The post is not educationally approved or recognised by the Royal College for training purposes but is educationally sound and well supported.
Candidates must have, or be eligible for, GMC registration that allows them to work in posts that are not recognised for training.

We wish to appoint a Clinical Fellow (CT1/2 Equivalent) in Intensive Care Medicine. Posts are available for 6 months, commencing 1st February 2023
Full Registration with the GMC is essential, as is expected completion of Foundation level (F2) competencies before commencing the post. Posts are based at Southmead Hospital, Bristol.
North Bristol NHS Trust is the largest acute trust in the South West of England. Southmead Hospital is a designated Major Trauma Centre, as well as a regional referral centre for renal medicine, urology, vascular and transplant surgery, neurology and neurosurgery. The trust has good links with the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England. Experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices or equivalent is essential.

Job responsibilities
The Clinical Fellow will gain experience in:
- The recognition and immediate treatment of critically ill/injured patients
The ongoing care of critically ill patients through to discharge including wide experience of all aspects of adult intensive care, except post-cardiac surgery.
- This includes management of severe head injuries and other neurosurgical emergencies, major trauma patients, major surgical patients including vascular surgery and burns and plastic surgical patients and medical patients
- Practical procedures including ultrasound-guided venous access under direct and indirect supervision according to their own individual needs and
Clinical experience

The post holder will be available to undertake sessions for medical students and junior doctors as required. In certain circumstances you may be required to cover a colleagues clinical duties in order that they may deliver teaching sessions.
Courses/Training/Journal/Clubs/Lunchtime meetings
There is a weekly teaching session on the unit which all clinical fellows are expected to attend and contribute to. There is also a monthly journal club. Informal teaching is continuous during attachment. There are daily radiology and microbiology sessions. The postholder will be encouraged to participate in audit and to attend courses appropriate to individual training needs
