We are looking for a keen and committed pharmacist with excellent communication skills and clinical pharmacy knowledge to join our expanding multi-disciplinary community teams as Specialist Clinical Pharmacist. This post will be an exciting challenge for someone who is highly motivated and keen to develop their clinical and professional skills.

We would prefer an independent prescribing pharmacist or a pharmacist working towards becoming an independent pharmacist prescriber. If you are not already an independent pharmacist prescriber, you will be supported to gain this qualification.

The ability to work flexibly and be able to travel across Scarborough and Ryedale would be an advantage.

The post holder is an experienced pharmacist, who acts within their professional boundaries, to develop, manage and mentor a team of pharmacists.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will

  • provide clinical pharmacy services to designated in-patient units and community teams within Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust (HTFT)

  • Undertake medicines optimisation projects and tasks including audit, literature reviews and research.

  • Provide expert pharmaceutical advice to teams and units within designated specialities.

  • Review the use of medicines, answer medication queries, take drug histories, participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and take part in discharge planning to ensure that medicines prescribed are safe, clinically effective and cost effective in line with local, regional and national policies.

  • Have overall responsibility for the safe and legal use of medicines within designated specialities in accordance with Trust policies

  • Prescribe independently or work toward a prescribing qualification.

  • Manage pharmacy technicians within designated units and teams.

  • Support professional development of members of the multidisciplinary team when appropriate

  • Progression from band 7 to band 8 is based on the completion of appropriate training requirements and/or successful completion of a portfolio of evidence aligned to Advanced Pharmacy Framework by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS).
