Job summary

We are pleased to be able to offer a band 8a 0.8 wte permanent Practitioner ( Clinical, Counselling or Forensic) Psychologist post within our established Homeless Mental Health Team based in, and serving the population of, Hull.

We are currently developing an additional 0.2wte FTC 8a ( 1 year) role working into and with Hull City Council supporting, through reflective practice and supervision, their front line staff and leaders that work into homelessness and housing advice teams .

This is an innovative pilot post that we hope will be funded beyond the year. This would bring the post up to a full time role with a one day FTC element and offers a great opportunity to shape the intervention and psychological offer .

Main duties of the job

You will be working with an established team , with support from an experienced Consultant Psychologist , to provide a psychological service, using the pre-treatment model, to people experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness who are accessing the service . Much of the work is indirect, supporting and training staff groups .

Qualifications

Essential

  • Completed post-graduate doctoral level of training in clinical, forensic or counselling psychology as accredited by the BPS (or equivalent if qualified before 1996)
  • To hold and maintain current professional registration in line with HCPC
  • Completed clinical supervision training for doctoral trainees
  • Additional short specialist courses with demonstrable impact on practice.

Desirable

  • Post-doctoral training in one or more specialised areas of psychological practice relevant to this client group
  • Advanced/expert understanding/application of relevant clinical practice/standards/audit within identified clinical area

Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience of working as a clinical, forensic or counselling psychologist, to include a significant period of working at a senior level in the specific field where the post is held
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups , across the whole life course and presenting with the full range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings
  • Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to the clinical area.

Desirable

  • Ability to work across team/organisational boundaries developing and maintaining multi-professional and multi-agency partnerships
  • A breadth of clinical practice including clinically specialising in the field where the post is held
