Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to work in the ER Children in Care Team.We are seeking to employ a newly qualified clinical or counselling psychologist who has experience in the assessment, formulation and therapy of children and young people with histories of trauma. We would also encourage clinical/counselling psychologists who are wanting to progress to 8a or who are established at 8a to apply for the post. The therapist will join a committed LAC Service within ER CLA CAMHS consisting of dramatherapy, art therapy, social worker and clinical psychologists.

This is an exciting time to be joining the service due to the transformational work with the vision of becoming trauma informed and developing the AMBIT framework work across CAMHS pathways.

Progression from band 7 to band 8a is subject to the post holder being able to evidence that they have met all criteria required for the role. It is expected that in order for the post holder to progress that they would have successfully completed the ISW training, have had experience supervising trainee psychologists and other professionals; have received post qualification training in an area relevant to this role, have led on consultations and are able to work with increasingly complex presentations (as available within the role). If the post holder already has significant band 7 post qualification experience, then the progression time period may be reduced.

Main duties of the job

  • To ensure the systematic provision of a high quality clinical psychology service to clients of a particular service area, by providing strong, effective professional direction, ensuring the delivery of evidence based psychological interventions and practice.
  • For the 8a post to provide clinical supervision for doctoral trainees, assistant psychologists and Band 7 psychologists and to develop skills in the area of professional post-qualification teaching, training and supervision of other staff in the delivery of psychological services
  • To continue to demonstrate advanced psychological skills in practice and provide support and advice re service development/development and implementation of highly specialist psychological interventions, and the delivery of the highest quality of care in collaboration with service users, carers, staff, managers, other agencies, across a number of teams/geographical areas.
  • To utilise research skills by contributing to the identification, initiation and co-ordination of audit and research within the relative service area.

To participate in facilitating participation forums on a rolling programme with other team members.

Be responsible for ensuring clinical outcome data is routinely entered and appropriately collated.
