An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Nursing and Patient Safety Specialist to join the Nursing & Quality Team here at Humber NHS, to provide professional leadership for our Nursing workforce and lead our ongoing work to build a positive patient safety culture.
You will be joining a high performing, psychologically safe and supportive team, committed to delivering excellent patient care through ensuring we work collaboratively with our operational colleagues.
You must be an individual who operates in line with our Humber values and is committed to and experienced in leading organisational change, as part of contributing to our ongoing journey in delivering outstanding care.
You will be responsible for providing nursing leadership, visibility and expert support to patient safety work, clinical quality improvement and assurance matters, strategies, and plans across the organisation.
You will work closely with the Deputy Director of Nursing, AHP and Social Work.

Main duties of the job
Within this role the post holder will be expected to:
Provide support and clinical leadership for Matrons to ensure the highest possible quality of services are provided with a view to securing the best possible outcomes for patients.
Act as one of the Trusts Patient Safety Specialists working closely with the Patient Safety Partners to ensure incident investigation and management is underpinned by learning and quality improvement, and the impact can be evidenced.
Work collaboratively with the Deputy Director of Nursing, Allied Health and Social Care Professionals, divisional managers, governance and education teams to provide seamless pathways of care and ensure a positive safety and team culture.
Provide leadership and expert technical support to the teams and to other senior managers and clinicians across the Trust in relation to patient safety and clinical standards.
Provide leadership and advice to the Trust and the Board on safer staffing across all services as well as clinical risk, quality improvement initiatives in mental health services.
Lead quality improvement initiatives / national directives across the nursing workforce with a specific focus on mental health services.
Deputise for the Deputy Director of Nursing, Allied Health & Social Care Professionals as required/appropriate
