Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Healthcare Assistant to join the Community Nursing bank with opportunities for shifts in Scarborough, Whitby, Ryedale and Pocklington both in the community and on the inpatient units in Whitby & Malton.

As an HCA working within the community, you need your own transport and to be comfortable working alone in patient homes. This is a 24/7 service with a variety of shift types available including earlies, lates and nights.

Main duties of the job

Day to day the role includes visiting patients to provide the care required according to the care plan written by a registered nurse, participating in handovers and/or safety huddles, and documenting the care provided. Clinical skills used within the role include:

  • Vital observations
  • Recognise and escalate issues of concern and/or safety including the deteriorating patient and issues of safeguarding
  • Phlebotomy
  • Injections
  • Wound care
  • Bladder (including catheters) & bowel care
  • End of life care
  • Moving & Handling of patients
  • Equipment provision & instruction in use
