Job summary

We are developing our team and are looking to recruit a part time Occupational Health Screening Nurse into our department.

The post holder will work as an essential member of the occupational health team and support in delivering an effective, efficient, responsive, and high-quality service. Although the job base is Skidby House, it may include visits to client sites to undertake vaccination and health surveillance services.

We are looking for a Registered Nurse, ideally with experience working within an occupational health setting.

The ideal candidate will be highly confident, have excellent communication skills, proficient IT skills and a flexible pro-active approach to be able to manage a varied and demanding workload.

The role involves undertaking pre-employment screening of staff and participating in health surveillance processes. Carrying out immunisations/vaccinations of employees. Undertaking venipuncture and the management of body fluid exposure incidents and their follow up. Providing appropriate occupational health advice which complies with the ethical guidance from the Faculty of Occupational Health Medicine and providing clinical care in accordance and department policies and protocols.

Main duties of the job

Undertake pre-employment screening of the Trust, CCGs, Primary Care, and external company employees

Participate in health surveillance programmes of employees whose work may bring them in to contact with hazardous substances.

Carry out immunisation / vaccination of employees in accordance with Patient Group Directions e.g. influenza, hepatitis B, TB, MMR, and chicken pox

Undertake venepuncture, spirometry, audiometry and vision screening

Undertake workplace assessments

Management of body fluid exposure incidents (inoculation injuries) and their follow up

Ensure procedures for checking, testing and maintenance of equipment are followed

To provide appropriate Occupational Health advice which complies with the ethical guidance from the Faculty of Occupational Health Medicine

The post holder will provide clinical care in line with departmental policies and protocols.
