Job summary

We are looking for a dynamic, motivated and passionate qualified Advanced Clinical Practitioner who would like to develop their skills further and make a real difference to the inpatient experience.

Our Adult Mental Health Inpatient services include a 14 bedded mixed assessment ward, two x 18 Bedded assessment and treatment Units, as well as a Mixed 15 bedded flexible assessment and treatment unit, 5 bedded rehab unit and 10 bedded PICU unit.It is a vital service for supporting those with acute mental health difficulties of varying complexities. Patients requiring admission may also have complex physical co morbidities and applicants should have an interest in both mental and physical health care delivery. Patients admitted can both be informal or detained under the Mental Health Act and require a holistic care approach in their assessment and treatment journey.

The wards have a multi-disciplinary team approach including nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapist, activity support workers, Psychiatric Consultants and junior doctors. You will also work alongside colleagues in the Crisis Team and Adult Social Care. We also support student nurses as part of our team.

If shortlisted for interview, a 15 minute presentation will be required. The question is "What will your role as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner bring to acute mental health inpatient services".

Main duties of the job

Your role will flex across the services we provide and maintain a strong clinical focus to support the maintenance of clinical quality and leadership for the patient experience.

To work across the inpatient teams demonstrating and applying knowledge and skills as per the 4 pillars of Advanced Clinical Practice. Clinical practice, leadership and management, education, and research

Provide Clinical leadership to the teams alongside the Matron and Service Manager on the Acute Inpatient Wards

Work as part of the inpatient leadership team and be accountable for the delivery of high-quality clinical services to patients.

Utilise critical judgement and expertise in providing clinical assessment and interpretation of clinical findings to ensure that the most appropriate care is delivered to patients referred with mental health care needs.

  • Registered under the NMC or HCPC
  • Advanced Clinical Practice MSC or evidence of working towards
  • Educated to Post Graduate Level or Degree plus significant advanced knowledge acquired through experience of community based mental health interventions and additional specialist training.
  • Full understanding of relevant policy, legislation, drivers and their application to clinical and service area, e.g. mental health act, mental capacity Act,
  • Full understanding/application of relevant clinical practice/standards/audit within identified clinical area

Desirable

  • Teaching qualification
  • Advanced clinical qualification in DBT
  • Member of organisational group/network, locally/regionally/nationally
  • Post-graduate/Masters level certificate
  • Be on the live register of mentors if required for the service area

  • Evidence of leadership and organisational development issues that have had a positive impact on service delivery
  • Experience of successful clinical policy implementation and change
