Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our small but experienced Management Accounting team. The role will focus mainly on our Community & Primary Care services. We deliver community healthcare services to patients in Scarborough, Whitby, Malton & Pocklington. We have three Primary Care practices based in the East Riding of Yorkshire area.
There will be opportunities to develop a career in finance and pursue a professional accountancy qualification.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the role include -
- Assisting the finance manager in delivering financial performance analysis. There will be opportunities to work with colleagues in the Primary Care & Community services in identifying resources to allow them deliver high quality service to patients.
- Analysis of financial performance of Community & Primary Care services.
- Reconciliation of actual income versus expected income.
- Analysis of pay costs.
- Understanding & explanation of variances to budgets
- Working collaboratively to forecast future income & expenditure
- Using systems to produce financial analysis to assist in decision making.
- Providing Support to budget holders to help them understand what drives income & expenditure.

Essential
- AAT Qualified (or working towards)
- Specialist interest in financial computer and ledger systems, coding structures and reporting systems
- Knowledge of accountancy principles and relevant legislation
- Experience and expertise in management accounting & finance computer systems, acquired through NVQ Level 5/professional accountancy qualifications - Certificate Level/Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Member or equivalent experience to degree level.
- General awareness of the financial framework of the NHS
- Degree or equivalent knowledge and experience
Desirable
- Detailed knowledge of Standing Financial Instructions and Standard Operation Procedures.
- Ability to keep up to date with latest guidance around funding.

- Experience working in a finance department
