Job summary
We are looking to recruit 2 enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic Hull and East Riding OPMH Team.
The first post is with Hull Integrated Care Team for Older People which is a community based mental health team. This enthusiastic, experienced, integrated team includes psychiatrists, nurses, occupational therapist, social workers and social care staff, nursing associates and support workers as well as physiotherapists and psychologists. You will be working closely with colleagues to deliver evidence-based assessments and interventions. The second post is part of our transforming services initiative with the opportunity to work into the newly developed care home pathway for older people with mental health difficulties and/or dementia.
Also in the OT team is an established rotational Band 5 OT post. OT students and apprentices are regularly offered placements.
There is professional and clinical leadership via the Advanced Lead OPMH OT as well as the wider service OT and AHP leadership structure. The service is growing and developing with enthusiastic and motivated staff with an emphasis on sharing skills and encouraging one another. We encourage opportunities for professional development and training with regular supervision and appraisal.
Main duties of the job
You will utilize your Occupational Therapy skills within the multidisciplinary team and develop collaborative working relationships with staff and service users. You will deliver evidence based Occupational therapy assessments and interventions to facilitate recovery and optimise functioning in all areas of daily living and leisure, within the most enabling environments. Service user/patient interventions take place in people's homes, community settings and in-patient areas. You will be an integral part of the Community Team participating in care coordination but with Occupational Therapy at the heart of what you do. There will be opportunities to work with the team to build a service that enables service users to access many aspects of the communities they live in.
Training is supported within the Trust, and specific Occupational Therapy assessments are encouraged. If a Band 5 is recruited to this post there will be a structured process to move up and progress to Band 6. The Occupational Therapy Service is committed to undergraduate student education via SLiP training.
You will receive regular clinical/ professional supervision from the Advanced Occupational Therapist (Band 7) and have access to a monthly Continuous Professional Development (CPD) network. You will also support and contribute towards the Occupational Therapy service development within the team and wider Occupational Therapy service. Occupational Therapy is well established and valued within the team.
