Job summary

The Humber CAMHS community team model is multi-disciplinary and consists of psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, creative therapists and family therapists. There is one community service aligned to NHS Hull (East and West), and one community service aligned to NHS East Riding (Driffield and Beverley) covering the areas of East Yorkshire & Yorkshire Coast & Wolds. There is also a Community Eating Disorder Team for Young People, a Neurodiversity team and a 24 hour CAMHS Crisis Team who cover both the Hull and East Riding area.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work closely with other CAMHS Psychiatrist colleagues and other professionals within the multi-disciplinary team and multi-agency alliances. The post holder will specifically provide consultant leadership to a CAMHS Community Team covering the East or West Hull (age range 0 - 18 years). Adopting the New Ways of Working model will allow the post holder to take up a consultative style approach and retain a small caseload. The role will also include leadership to junior medical staff and contributing to strategic service development. The post holder will be encouraged to dedicate time for a special interest.

Job description

Job responsibilities

There is an expectation that the post holder will be involved in the following:

  • The post holder will be expected to provide senior medical input and clinical leadership to the Department of Psychological Medicine (specifically the Frequent Attenders aspect and the General Liaison service) and to contribute to Multi-Disciplinary and Multi-Agency team working arrangements within the service.
  • To undertake the assessment and management of complex cases referred and to care plan, provide treatment formulation and guidance on evidence-based treatment and effectiveness.
  • Work within the principles of the Care Programme Approach.
  • The post holder is expected to work flexibly with colleagues to enable the smooth running of the service, and to ensure the most appropriate care is provided to each individual patient.
  • To comply with all Trust policies and procedures, drawn up in consultation with the professions in respect of clinical matters.
  • To complete all relevant clinical administration associated with the post.
  • The appointee must be able to travel around the facilities serviced by this post and travel to all areas covered by the on-call rota.
  • These duties are subject to review from time to time in light of the changing requirements of the service. If alterations to the described duties are required, these will be mutually agreed between the appointee and the Trust.
