Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a full time, Band 7 Lead Nurse to work within the Intensive Support Team providing services for adults with a learning disability across Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire.

The successful candidate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing person centred care and support to individuals with complex health needs and their families and carers in order to optimise health outcomes and improve quality of life. The successful candidate will have an integral leadership role in the team.

The post holder will hold a RNLD or RNMH qualification and have demonstrable evidence of working in a leadership role.

The successful applicant will have excellent communication skills, be able to apply research into practice and show flexibility in changing and challenging situations. They must demonstrate a range of leadership qualities in order to provide day to day management of complex and sometimes crisis situations.

Whilst the post is based at Townend Court the post holder will work across both Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire. Due to the geographical area that this post covers you will need to be able to effectively commute across the geographical area in order to meet the needs of the service. The Intensive Support Team operates 7 days per week between 0800 and 2015 hours. The successful candidate will work Monday- Friday 8-4 or 9-5.

Main duties of the job

You will hold a small clinical caseload as well as providing clinical leadership to the specialist nurses and other health care professionals working within the team. You will also support with some operational management aspects of the team alongside the team leader.

As lead nurse you will work closely with the inpatient unit and other external agencies forging effective working relationships.

You will ensure person centred and evidence-based care is embedded within practice within the team and provide support and advice re service development and the delivery of care in partnership with patients, relatives, staff and external agencies.

You may on occasion be asked to provide support and cover to other parts of the service during periods of increased clinical pressures, or be required to support the staff that you lead to cover other parts of the service.
