Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Humber for a full time Specialty Doctor to work in a well-established Old Age Psychiatry inpatient team.

The successful candidate will provide medical input into the multi-disciplinary Inpatient Teams at Maister Lodge and Court. This inpatient service for older people provides a comprehensive, needs-led service to Hull or East Riding residents who are experiencing organic and functional mental health problems. The service offers two units within the same building; Maister lodge has 12 beds for organic needs and Maister Court offers 5 beds for functional needs, which only takes male patients.

The postholder will work in collaboration with the wards medical team, which includes a consultant psychiatrist and junior doctors such GP trainees and or Foundation Year Doctors.

Main duties of the job

You should have experience of working with older adult patients and confidence in managing chronic and long-term physical health conditions., together with:-

  • Contribute to the provision of a comprehensive old age psychiatry service to the Inpatient Unit.
  • CPA / 117 meetings, patient reviews, Tribunals and daily multi-disciplinary team meetings in Maister Court and Lodge Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team.
  • To undertake the assessment and management of admitted on the Unit, to provide treatment formulation and guidance on evidence-based treatment and effectiveness.
  • To develop professional relationships with colleagues promoting multi-disciplinary working.
  • Undertaken duties assigned by the responsible clinician with regards to the Mental Health Act
  • There is opportunity to take part in junior doctors on call rota or to undertake ad hoc locum on call.
