Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Occupational Therapist, Band 6, to join the ever-growing occupational therapy hub within the Mental Health Crisis Intervention Team at Miranda House.
The role will support in the delivery of an effective pathway for service users of Home-Based Treatment, and this includes working closely alongside a full MDT including other occupational therapists. The service provides crisis and acute care in the community to people in mental health crisis in Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire. We are looking for someone with excellent engagement skills and to be proactive in working with people who may have complex needs.
The candidate will work collaboratively with service users and their families/carers, a range of colleagues and partner agencies to support the people through their ongoing mental health crisis. There will be an expectation to make complex decisions and be confident with risk management.
The candidate will be motivated and enthusiastic with a high level of clinical knowledge and value recovery-focused interventions that facilitate and enable people with mental health difficulties. You will be expected to share knowledge around effective evidence-based strategies. You will be confident in your liaison and communication with other professionals, with an ability to manage conflict if this arises.
Main duties of the job
The post offers opportunity for creative working and to provide a wide range of occupational therapy interventions for the people accessing support.
The post includes working closely with other MDT members to work collaboratively when providing interventions and care. The MDT value each other views and you will have opportunity to input towards care plans, risk assessments and onwards referrals.
The post holder will be expected to work autonomously, and as part of a mdt, to provide effective holistic Occupational Therapy assessment and consultation at a specialist level of practice to enable people to develop functional abilities and occupational functioning. The Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust occupational therapy service supports the use of the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO).
There are training opportunities to develop assessment skills. The candidate will be able to evidence project work that has impacted on practice and demonstrate a high level of communication, planning and abilities that positively influences others. You will receive regular clinical and professional supervision from the Advanced Occupational therapist (band 7) and have access to a monthly Continuous Professional Development (CPD) network.
You will also support and contribute towards occupational therapy service development within the team and the wider occupational therapy trust service too. Occupational therapy is well established and valued in our team and the wider trust too.
