Job summary

We are seeking to appoint a highly experienced Clinical Psychologist to join the Hull & ER core CAMHS team, Crisis and intensive home treatment team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the senior decision-making team that will shape the development of acute and core CAMH services in Hull & ER CAMHS. You would be joining a service comprising of 3 Consultant Clinical Psychologists working across CAMHS, Neurodiversity Services, Eating Disorder Service and Inspire, CAMHS Inpatient Unit alongside 30 Child Clinical and Assistant Psychologists working across Hull & East Riding CAMHS.

Over the past year CAMH service has developed a home intensive treatment team that works alongside the Hull & ER crisis team. The post holder will be expected to provide clinical expertise in the assessment, formulation and therapy of children and young people with histories of trauma and the core CAMH service is currently working with commissioners on developing a trauma informed service specification which will be the first of its kind in England. We have also set up a DBT service across CAMHS and the successful postholder will be expected to be involved in providing clinical leadership of this service.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate should have significant experience of working with children and young people with a history of trauma and supporting and managing young people displaying high levels of risk. You will also be expected to be able to provide clinical supervision for staff from a range of different professions as agreed with the service manager and the clinical lead.

To provide clinical supervision/leadership for staff employed within the service area including Assistants and Trainees attached to the service as agreed with the Professional Lead.

To participate in the clinical leadership of the service area and to take responsibility for identified key service issues.

To facilitate and maintain a strong research and development culture, within the relative service area, in the promotion of service and policy development

To exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the service area, and contribute to effective risk assessment and clinical audit.

To deputise for the Lead Psychologist, as appropriate

  • Doctoral level training in clinical psychology or its equivalent
  • oFormal training in supervision of other psychologists

Desirable

  • oExperience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care and treatment, both as a professionally qualified care co-ordinator and also within the context of a multidisciplinary care plan.
