Are you a Forensic, Clinical or Counselling Psychologist interested in working within the criminal justice system?
This is an exciting opportunity to work in partnership with providers Tees Esk and Wear Valley NHS Foundation and Rethink, supporting prisoners' mental health and well-being.
The post will involve working with adult males in prisons who present with complex mental health difficulties.
We have a permanent Band 8b position, part-time hours (30hrs),the post holder will work within the forensic and clinical psychology speciality and will provide psychology input to the prison based mental health team at HMP Hull or Humber.
You will also have an opportunity to spend a proportion of your time at the Humber Centre to ensure you receive supervision and training from the lead and Consultant Psychologist of the Forensic Division.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for highly motivated, confidant Principal Forensic, Clinical or Counselling Psychologist who has a strong interest in prison work.
You will be required to have a good vision of the service and requirements, supporting the development of a specialist psychology service within the prison mental health provision.
Applicants will need to be equipped with a strong sense of responsibility and leadership as the psychology representative within the wider multidisciplinary team. You will have responsibilities to support a registered psychologist and two Higher Assistant Psychologists.

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential
- Current HCPC Registration
- Knowledge of experience in the use of a wide range of psychometric and other objective assessment tools, such as neuro-assessment, as applied in identified area
- Skills in co-ordinating programmes of care, and providing consultation and specialist advice to other professional and non-professional groups
Desirable
- Leadership or management qualification
- Broadly based knowledge of the theory and practice of advanced psychological therapies in specific difficult to treat groups (eg complex PTSD, personality disorder, dual diagnosis, people with disabilities
- Member of a special interest group/network, locally or nationally
Experience
Essential
- Demonstratable experience of working as a practitioner psychologist, to include a significant period of working at a senior level in the specific specialist field where the post is held
- Experience of teaching, training and or professional and clinical supervision
- Be able to effectively chair meetings
Desirable
- A breadth of clinical practice including clinically specialising in the field where the post is held
- Experience of developing others through education, mentorship, coaching, teaching, assessing, presentations, publishing
