This is a great developmental post for a psychologist, with excellent opportunities for flexible working. The Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust is looking for an 8a clinical or forensic psychologist to work within a specialist mental health team in HMP Humber or HMP Hull. This work will be in partnership with providers Tees Esk and Wear Valley NHS Foundation and Rethink, supporting prisoners' mental health and well-being.
This is a full-time position, but part-time hours are also available. You will spend time in prisons (your choice of HMP Humber or HMP Hull), but also one day a week at the Humber Centre to receive clinical supervision and training with the lead and Consultant Psychologist of the Forensic Division. You can plan your work flexibly, with opportunities each week to work from home. We are looking for a highly motivated and compassionate psychologist who has an interest in working with adult males in the prisons who present with complex mental health difficulties. Applicants will need to be equipped with a strong sense of responsibility and leadership as the psychology representative within the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure that evidence based psychological interventions and practice are delivered.
Main duties of the job
You will provide clinical supervision to assistant psychologists and other staff in the delivery of psychological services. You will be required to have a good vision of the service and requirements, supporting the development of psychology within this recently established mental health team.
The post holder will be closely aligned to our medium and low secure in-patient services at the Humber Centre. You will be part of a friendly and supportive group of Forensic and Clinical Psychologists, who maintain a strong identity as a Psychology Department whilst also being key members of multidisciplinary teams. We are members of the local Post-Qualification Training Network, providing frequent opportunities for accessing high quality CPD events and training. The psychology department has a good relationship with the University of Hull.

- Knowledge of experience in the use of a wide range of psychometric and other objective assessment tools, such as neuro-assessment, as applied in identified area
- Skills in co-ordinating programmes of care, and providing consultation and specialist advice to other professional and non-professional groups
Desirable
- Leadership or management qualification
- Broadly based knowledge of the theory and practice of advanced psychological therapies in specific difficult to treat groups (eg complex PTSD, personality disorder, dual diagnosis, people with disabilities
