Job summary

Due to the promotion of the existing Band 7 Advanced Occupational Therapist (OT) the Humber Centre for Forensic Psychiatry have an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced, knowledgeable, and compassionate OT to join a dynamic Forensic inpatient Service.

The service is part of the "Humber and North Yorkshire Specialist Provider Collaborative" supporting the NHS Five Year Forward Plan to ensure integrated care systems are in place. The successful candidate will contribute to the leadership of the service and to help shape future services.

The Humber Centre is an all-male adult environment that offers 5 inpatient areas including medium & low level of security and a step-down community preparation unit to support the recovery of service-users who experience either a Personality Disorder, Psychosis and LD diagnosis. A trauma informed model underpins our service delivery.

The environment is currently undergoing refurbishment to increase the existing therapeutic spaces. In order to promote OT service delivery, there has been an investment in the OT staffing and will require the successful candidate to provide professional and clinical leadership to the OT staff which includes: Specialist OT's (Band 5 & 6) and Rotational OT (Band 5), as well as an Associate Practitioner OT's (Band 4) and Activity Coordinator staff (Band 3).

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to work autonomously, provide clinical input and consultation as part of the wider multi-disciplinary team, working alongside a variety of Health professional. Therefore, an advanced working knowledge and clinical expertise of OT Professional Practice model and assessments, with a preference to include the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO), Assessment of Motor and Process Skills (AMPS), Sensory Integration (SI), Occupational Formulation (OF).

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be part of Humber wider OT staff group which has 80+ OT staff and the wider AHP network, which will include access to professional supervision and support from OT / AHP Leads in the Trust.

All Advanced OTs are part of a Professional Network, and the OTs in the forensic services are an integral part of a wider Mental Health Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Group. Training personal and professional development is encouraged by the Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust, and the wider OT service is also very committed to support undergraduate/postgraduate/ apprentice student education.
