Job summary

A Fantastic opportunity has become available to come and work at Inspire adolescent inpatient unit on the Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit Nova ward.

The role is for a Band 6 Deputy Ward Manager for a Registered Mental Health or Learning Disability Nurse. The successful candidate will be working closely with the ward manager along with 3 other deputies, supporting the junior staff team in supervision, managing sickness and absence, rota's, performance and training for the team. The candidate will cover the ward manager when required. The candidate will support young people on the ward with mental health difficulties, including leading on meetings, directing care pathways and key working young people with complex needs. The candidate will also work closely with family, carers, and community services to promote successful admissions and discharges back into the community. The role will incorporate more senior managerial and clinical duties and supervision of Staff.

Nova Ward is also attached to Orion General Adolescent Ward and it will be expected for all to work collaboratively together, giving the flexibility to support the young people in our service.

Main duties of the job

You will have demonstrable management experience and will offer clinical leadership and management support to the nursing team with the aim of delivering high quality care to young people across the two ward environments. You will manage the rosters, sickness absence and annual leave. You will chair the Ward Multi-disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings and Care Programme Approach (CPA) reviews.

You will organise and chair regular Team Meetings. You will lead on incidents reviews and investigations. You will deputise for the Ward Manager and support the Senior Leadership Team in the development and review of policies and procedures.
