Job summary
A new post has been developed for an experienced social worker and manager to join the new Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) in Hull in the role of team leader. This role offers a real opportunity to play a pivotal part in improving children and young peoples emotional wellbeing and mental health.
MHSTs are an exciting new national programme roll out aiming to support children and young people with mild to moderate mental health needs in schools, colleges and education settings in Hull.
They workdirectlywith children and young people between the ages of 5 to 18, and support parent/carers and education staff
The teams are delivered by Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust in partnership Hull City Council, NHS Hull Clinical Commissioning Group, 34 schools/colleges and the University of Sheffield.
As this is a new role, you will have the opportunity to make it your own and influence the new team at this early stage in the programme. You will be able to bring innovation and creativity to the team with a clear goal to improve mental health support for local young people.
The MHSTs are part of the wider emotional wellbeing and mental health service offer across the city and will integrate into the already well-established, city-wide Hull Thrive model. You will also work closely with other services, including HeadStart.
Main duties of the job
- The successful candidate will lead a dedicated team of Senior Practitioners and Education Mental Health Practitioners. The work involves a high level of professional autonomy . The successful individual will support the service lead to develop a pioneering and innovative service supporting early interventions for mild to moderate mental health problems for children, young people aged 5 18 and their families within education and community settings.
- The Successful individual will support the service lead and commissioners (Local Authority and NHS) in contributing to the roll out of Mental Health Support Teams within Hull in-line with national policy from DHSC, DfE and NHS England and Improvement.
- They will embed their social work practice into a multi-disciplinary team, supporting team members with advice, guidance and complex case management that do not require specialist NHS Children and Young People Mental Health Services and can be managed within Early Intervention and Targeted support. And will have key responsibility as the lead social work professional within the Mental Health Support Teams in Hull ensuring that a systemic approach is deployed within the teams both in terms of practitioners working together and throughout the whole system of children and young people health, care and education services in Hull and relationships with key partners.
- The successful individual will provide professional and management supervision supporting members of their teams.
